We got haXored!

Check this out. This was what the site looked like when I went to check it this morning.

http://www.roxormedia.com/index_hack.htm

Now we’ve got to go through the painful process of changing all our passwords. We’re were very lucky that they only changed the index.htm page and didn’t touch the rest of the site. And grateful the “System Root Crew” isn’t as malicious as they could have been.

Somehow, I finally feel like a real citizen of the internet.

Joss Whedon’s Serenity

Well, I caught a showing of Serenity, and I’ll have to say that I’m very impressed. Before watching the movie I had never seen any episodes of Firefly, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d already heard that Firefly was a mix of sci-fi and western. You might think that’s a strange combination, but it works wonderfully. The western genre captures the great exploratory feel of early space settlement, and you just can’t go wrong with sci-fi, in my opinion. One of the best parts about the movie is that, when your in space, you don’t hear anything; no screaming engines, explosions or gunfire. It’s just silence. It leaves you with a strange serene feeling. Fitting, don’t you think? On a technical level I was awed by the opening scene of the interior of the Serenity (the firefly class speceship that the crew lives on). It’s about a five minute shot, with no cuts, that traverses the length of the ship and introduces the entire crew. I don’t know how many of you realize what an incredible feat it is to pull that off.

So, if you like sci-fi, westerns, or sci-fi westerns, you’ll really like Serenity. It was entertaining, had great humor, the acting was good, the script was good, and it was technically well done. What more can you ask from a movie? I’ll toss it an A.
